Imitators
Beware of inferior imitations and copycat systems claiming to be an "Improved Plug-In Supply" design. If it does not say Plug-In Supply you are buying an inferior product. Only Plug-In Supply PHEV systems have Plug-In Supply software with Automatic EVTM, High Speed EVTM, and Max RegenTM. Nothing else comes close to our performance.
Plug-In Supply is the owner, designer, developer, and manufacturer of our 10KW PHEV system for the Prius. We have similar systems for other hybrids. "4KW," "6KW," "10KW," "15KW," "Automatic EV," "AEV," "High Speed EV," "HSEV," and "Max Regen" are our trademarks and exclusive to our products. No one else has the right to make our products.
Some competitors overstate the capacity of their products to make them sound like a better deal. They call their imitation a 10 kw, 11 kw, or 12 kw pack. They are trying to make their inferior copy sound better than the original Plug-In Supply product. This is misleading. We call our large Prius pack "10KW" because it delivers 10 kW-hr of usable energy from every discharge cycle. The actual capacity of the pack is more depending on what cells are in the pack. Check the real capacity of a competitor's product before you buy. You may be surprised.
The companies below sell unauthorized copies of our 10KW Prius system. There may be others. Some started off as resellers, then we assume they decided they "knew it all" and could compete head-to-head with us. But instead of designing their own system they copy ours.
Plug In Solutions
We had the unpleasant experience of working with Plug In Solutions from November 2009 through mid April 2010. During that time they violated our partnership agreement by not paying contractors, not paying suppliers, and not paying dealers. They also failed to share revenue and cheated customers. They shipped defective systems containing "used" components. After we terminated the partnership they continued to sell a poor quality copy of our 10KW Prius system. We have examined several and found unsafe wiring and shoddy installation. They use pirated control software with bugs. If you purchased a 10 kw system from Plug In Solutions you should have it inspected. It may not be safe. Plug In Solutions also harassed us with two frivolous lawsuits in small claims court. These were judged to be without merit and were dismissed. They continue to slander us on web-based discussion boards to anyone who will listen. Boulder Hybrid Conversions and 3 Prong Power
Boulder Hybrid Conversions (BHC) and 3 Prong Power obtained a number of old defective control circuit boards from Plug In Solutions during 2011. They used these defective control boards to build and sell unauthorized copies of our 10KW system under the BHC name. They call it an "Improved Plug-In Supply" design, though there is nothing improved about it. In reality it is an inferior copy of what we sold in 2009. These systems do not have Max RegenTM, Automatic EVTM, or High Speed EVTM. They use pirated control software with bugs from an unknown source. If you bought a BHC 10 kw system, look at your rear control circuit board. If it says "Rev 6" it is probably defective. You can expect premature cell failure with strong odor due to overcharging the cells. These defective systems can be repaired and upgraded. Contact us for details.
